Director’s Profile
Indonesian film director Yosep Anggi Noen, born in Yogyakarta on 1983, studied communications at the Socio-Politics Faculty of Yogyakarta′s Gadjah Mada University. His first feature Peculiar Vacation and Other Ilnesses (2012) premiered at Locarno Film Festival and won Dragon and Tiger Special Mention Award at Vancouver International Film Festival. His short film A Lady Caddy Who Never Saw a Hole in One (2013), won Sonje Award at Busan International Film Festival and the Grand Prix of Short Short Film Festival & Asia. Solo, Solitude (2016) - his second feature - premiered in the Concorso Cineasti del Presente at Locarno Film Festival. His short film, Ballad of Blood and Two White Buckets (2018), premiered at Toronto International Film Festival. His third feature film The Science of fictions (2019) won Golden Leopard Special Mention at Locarno Film Festival.
Synopsis
Indonesia 2032. Gaspar is an amateur detective who is working on a mass slaughter case involving the government, during which he encounters an informant who gives him a hint towards the mysterious disappearance of his childhood friend, Kirana. The hint points Gaspar towards Wan Ali, a human-trafficking crook. Gaspar has just been sentenced to die within the next 24 hours due to his misplaced cardium. In the remaining time, along with his band of friends and a highly peculiar motorcycle, Gaspar plans to rob a jewelry shop. All in the name of avenging the past and a mysterious black box.
